NS (EDA Software)

NS was the Electronics Design Automation (EDA) software written by Jim Cherry, Neil Mayle, Howie Strobe, Kalman Reti, Henry Minsky, Clark Baker and Neil Weste for the Symbolics Lisp Machines.

While the software was originally developed and owned by Symbolics, Chris Terman, Doug Leonard, Neil and Bruce Davis founded TLW Inc. and later exchanged design work in the later years leading up to Symbolics' collapse for the rights to NS.

David Tan later re-implemented NS in it's entirety in Common Lisp while working for TLW Inc..

Jim Cherry made significant contributions to the original implementation of NS, notably developing the Timing Analyzer which was later reused in Cadence's EDA software.
