The late Professor Paul Penfield Jr. was the head of MITs Electrical Engineering Department from 1989 to 1999, and oversaw the progress and direction of the [[category:vlsi_memos|VLSI Memos]] taking directorship of the then [[category:places:microsystems_technology_laboratories|Microsystems Research Center]] from 1985 to 1989.
